Welcome to the CFINNS Initiative webpages

Invasive non-native species are one of the largest threats to biodiversity. They outcompete native species, dramatically alter fragile ecosystems, can increase the liklihood of flooding and cost the economy billions of pounds each year.

The Cumbria Freshwater Invasive Non-Native Species Initiative aims to coordinate action thoughout Cumbria. These webpages support the Initiative, providing information on freshwater invasive non-native species, relevant policies, work being carried in the county, how you can get involved and much more.
