Local Environment Agency Documents.
These are mainly Salmon Action Plans (SAP) for our local rivers. These have been produced  within the last 10 years. They should prove to be of interest for anyone concerned about salmon in our local rivers.
Often the ‘Consultation’ document has more interesting information in it than the final version.

The Trout and Grayling Strategy  is a key document governing the management of waters with natural populations of these species. Most of our waters are classified as “native trout waters” under this strategy.

The Cumbria Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) was produced in 2001. It defines key habitats and species where conservation measurers are required and Action Plans are in place. Environmental  projects that fit with this plan are likely to be easier to fund.
Habitats with Action Plans that are directly relevant to the work of the Trust are Rivers and Streams, Standing Water, Reedbeds, Blanket Bog and Wet Woodland. Aquatic species with Action Plans are Water Vole,  Water Beetle and Caddisfly. These plans can be accessed from the above site.
Salmonid 21C is an initiative to develop agreement on how we manage and conserve wild salmon, trout and sea trout stocks in the UK and Ireland in the twenty first century.
