This is all about rivers!
What about the rest?
River Associations will concentrate on the protection and preservation of our rivers to assure a natural and sustainable population of migratory and resident salmonids.  ‘In line’ still waters with natural fisheries, e.g. Windermere, Rydal, Grasmere, Coniston, will be covered by the River Associations.
However this does not cover all fisheries interests, e.g. rainbow trout and coarse fisheries. To cover these it is suggested that we also have a Still Waters Association. This could cover stocked rainbow and brown trout fisheries (Killington, Gurnal Dubbs, High Newton, Dubbs, Esthwaite, Pennington, etc.) and natural and managed coarse fisheries.
One association to cover the whole SCRT area, with one Trustee nomination.
Anyone fancy organising this?

News :
Two River Associations have both been formed:

The Duddon River Association was formed at a meeting 15th July. All the Clubs and syndicates have joined along with 2 major riparian owners, the local LDNPA ranger and National Trust representative and the Forestry Commission.

It is gratifying to see all all these interested parties coming together in such a positive way. At present it looks like an excellent example of ‘best practice’ and hopefully other River Associations will follow this example.

The legacy of the Crake Catchment Improvement Association was dissolved at a meeting on 25th July, it was agreed that the remaining funds of £1600 be handed over to SCRT. The Crake River  Association was then formed. Chair : John Cleaver, Secretary Paul Chamberlain.
